Rafi Eitan, the Mossad agent who led the Israeli group that captured Nazi Adolf Eichmann, has died aged 92.
Eitan commanded an eight-man group who flew to Argentina in 1960 and spirited Eichmann again to Israel to face trial.
He’s seen as one of many fathers of Israel’s intelligence companies.
Eichmann was one of many precept architects of the Holocaust, Nazi Germany’s systematic extermination of six million Jewish folks. He was discovered responsible and hanged in 1962.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu known as Eitan “one of many heroes of Israeli intelligence” and stated he was a “shut private buddy”.
Israeli President Reuven Rivlin described him as “a born fighter who caught to his mission and to what he knew to be proper”.

Eitan was born on a kibbutz within the former British Mandate of Palestine to a household of Russian immigrants in 1926, rising up in Ramat Hasharon north of Tel Aviv.
He was injured combating in Israel’s conflict of independence in 1948. After his launch from the military, he joined the home intelligence service Shin Wager the place he thrived and was named head of central operations for Shin Wager and Mossad, Israel’s overseas intelligence service.
Mossad was tipped off by a West German prosecutor that Adolf Eichmann was alive and hiding in Argentina.
Chatting with the BBC in 2011, Eitan described Eichmann as “fully common” and laughed off his personal hero standing, describing himself as solely “half of James Bond”.
Within the 1980s nonetheless Eitan was revealed because the handler of Jonathan Pollard, a US analysts who gave hundreds of prime secret paperwork to Israel.
The FBI issued an arrest warrant for Eitan after Pollard was uncovered. Pollard spent 30 years in jail after his seize in 1985.
Between 2006 and 2009, Eitan would serve in parliament for the centrist Gil Occasion, changing into minister for pensioner affairs.
He died at Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv on Saturday. He was married to his spouse Miriam, with whom he had three youngsters.
