Director James Gunn has been rehired to direct Guardians of the Galaxy three after he was fired by Disney over decade-old tweets that joked about rape and abuse.
It comes after well-known solid members from the Marvel collection signed an open letter pleading for Gunn’s return.
In a tweet he thanked Disney and his supporters and mentioned he’s “excited to proceed making movies that examine the ties of affection that bind us all”.
He was fired final July over the tweets that Disney known as “indefensible”.
Stars from the primary two movies within the franchise had overtly supported Gunn after his dismissal, together with Bradley Cooper, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel and Dave Bautista.
The Guardians of the Galaxy collection has grossed over $1.6bn (£1.2bn) worldwide, with the sequel surpassing the earnings seen by the primary movie.
In accordance with Deadline, the choice was made by Disney executives months in the past after he publicly apologised in July and took blame for the incident.
He’ll reportedly start manufacturing of Guardians of the Galaxy three after he completes Suicide Squad 2, which is being producing by Marvel rival DC, Deadline stories.
